DCHS recently held a special carving class geared towards young students interested in picking up a local craft. Each attendee spent a day sanding, painting, and putting together what we refer to as a dove silhouette.
This project gave everyone the chance to hone their fine motor skills and gauge their interest in the world of carving. We typically hold classes for more experienced students and crafters, so this was a fun change of pace and an opportunity to introduce a new generation to this historic pastime.
We were very glad to see the students enjoying themselves and getting to know one another as they tried something new. We certainly hope to hold another similar class in the future!
