We are so very sorry to have heard of the passing of Laura Layton. She departed this life while surrounded by family on August 18th.
After serving as a teacher in Dorchester County for 34 years, then on the Board of Education for several years, she became well known and loved by many. She also helped open and own Layton's Chance Winery.
Laura loved to travel, often taking cruises, but she also loved to read. Years ago, Laura helped found the Dorchester County Historical Society's Book Club, which is still around today.
As a member of Salem United Methodist Church, her viewing will be held there on Thursday, August 24th.
