If you are familiar with the Heritage Museums and Gardens campus, you may have also seen our extensive library, known as the Todd Research Center. This collection includes a broad selection of reference materials including books (many out of print), atlases, compilations and transcriptions, photographs, ledgers, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks and more. The Moxey Collection contains 400+ volumes of material, mostly gleaned from newspapers (obituaries, marriages, etc.) and is arranged alphabetically.
It is truly an impressive collection of information from the county, and DCHS is very fortunate to have access to the collection from Debra Moxey, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 6, 2022.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Moxey family, and we hope that her work will continue to inspire future generations. Mrs. Moxey published The Dorchester County, MD Genealogical Magazine for many years, and she compiled 20 books on Dorchester County Genealogy. Additionally, she was a member of the Dorchester County Historical Society and other notable historical organizations.
