My grandmother was born in East New Market in 1875. I have researched my ancestors on my grandmother's side of the family and visited the family plot at the East New Market Cemetery. The plot has the family names: Webb, Sherman and Clifton. My grandmother was Nellie Eliza Clifton and her father was Thomas E. Clifton. I'm sure he is buried there because the death certificate says he is, but there is no headstone. He was living with his son, William L. Clifton, on Main Street in 1910 and died there in 1913. There are no headstones for Thomas or his wife, Elizabeth A. Sherman Gambriel Clifton. There are headstones for Elizabeth's father and mother, Rev. James N. Sherman and…
