DCHS Office Assistant
The Dorchester County Historical Society (DCHS) is urgently looking to add someone to our team. With our large campus and growing membership, there is a significant need for an extra pair of helping hands. Our desire is to find someone among our members or someone who may be familiar with our work that can assist in handling daily operations around the museum and society grounds. If you have an interest in Dorchester History, meeting new people, and working directly within our museum, we would love to hear from you!
This person must be confident and ready to take the initiative when it comes to greeting visitors, giving tours, answering phones, organizing items from our exhibits, keeping both paper and computer records, and other similar office-related tasks as needed. This position is part time and must cover Saturdays. Some tasks, such as locating artifacts in our inventory, may involve going up and down stairs. Having a basic understanding of Microsoft programs such as Word and Excel will be important in routine tasks. As an Office Assistant, this person will work closely with our Executive Director, members of our Board of Trustees, and volunteers.

This position receives $15.00 per hour. Our open hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (six hour days). As a part-time position, this person may work between 18 and 24 hours per week. Occasionally, there are before/after hours events planned in advance that should be attended as part of the work week schedule.
