The Dorchester County Historical Society and its home, The Heritage Museums and Gardens of Dorchester, mean different things to different people. It’s a research center, a museum, a lecture hall, a place to meet others that share your interests, and so on.
DCHS and its campus receive very little funding from local, state or federal sources to finance its operations. So, general expenses like utilities, payroll, upkeep and insurance have to be covered each year through membership dues, donations, admissions, event income and sponsorships. In addition, an Endowment Fund is being “built” to prepare for future funding needs.
There are different levels of membership, including Corporate that may be considered when joining.
