When you only have one person included in the Operating Budget and a facility as large and active as The Heritage Museums and Gardens of Dorchester, much work falls to the highly valued volunteers of this organization.  There are many areas that could use your attention, skills and creativity…..we invite you to try some out!!

Greeters and Docents– whether you wish to schedule your time here, a few hours per week, day or month, your assistance could help out tremendously.  Even two hour blocks can be extremely helpful to us, if you can greet visitors and answer the phone.  Docents guide visitors through our exhibits and point out bits of information that might not be gleaned otherwise.

Gardening and Grounds- There is always something to do outside….stray weeds, sticks, pruning, porches to be swept and so on.  Our beautiful waterfront campus would be the setting for these tasks.

Collection Care-  There are a myriad of ways that you can help out in this department.  If you can be organized, careful and conscientious, this may be the area for you.  This job description covers everything from accessioning items into our collection, properly storing and labeling them, assisting with exhibits and more.  Training is provided.

Tea Committee- If you enjoy entertaining and baking, this is the role for you.  You can spend your time in the kitchen creating the wonderful tea offerings or “serve” our guests.  Costumes will be provided to servers.

Programming and Events- Help to bring the topics, talks, workshops and more to the public.  This area is only limited by your own creativity.

Fiscal Development and Fundraising- If this is your area of expertise, we need you!
